Co-counselling Training What is Co-counselling? Co-counselling is about you. It enables you to discover and acknowledge your real, profound and everyday feelings, and to work with them to achieve greater emotional well-being and better relationships of all kinds. Co-counselling is a practice of ‘structured working with equals’ which, after training, you can use for the rest of your life - working with one or more co-counsellors, in a safe and supportive framework. Using the repertoire of co-counselling techniques you can choose to sort yourself out, and change the way you are in the world. Co-Counselling is a powerful and accessible form of therapy with a 30 year history. It draws on a range of approaches - Gestalt, Psychoanalytic, Person-Centred, Psychosynthesis, Cognitive, and Reichian. It focuses on both body and mind to produce insight. Whilst the foundation course is aimed to be a therapeutic experience in its own right, it gives participants the skills to continue to use co-counselling for their own personal development afterwards. There is also a ''fun'' element in the co-counselling culture, so we play games and enjoy ourselves in a celebratory way too - it's not only about looking at our darker or serious sides. Who’s it For? It’s about identifying and overcoming self-defeating patterns - most of us could do with some of that! But since it’s about both helping and being helped, it suits peope who are already coping quite well with life. To partipate you’ll need: The ability to be non-judgemental and respectful to others The ability to keep confidentiality The ability to hold back from expressing your own feelings when it is your turn to give someone else attention A respect for others' boundaries and needs, as members of a group A clear head - This training is not suitable for people with long-term or deep-seated mental illness, or who are experiencing psychotic or severe anxiety episodes. Nor is it appropriate for those under the influence of drugs/alcohol. After the Course If you complete the course successfully (self/peer/tutor assessed - no exams!) you will be invited to join a local, national and international co-counselling network which offers affordable workshops, peer support groups, residential gatherings. And any ongoing co-counselling relationship you might arrange will be free - and freely entered into. Course Details The course comprises two weekends of Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday (not evenings) and practice between the weekends, arranged with other trainees. There is a weekend off between the two training weekends. Cost: £150 for the 40 hrs training. A proportion of assisted places are offered in ratio to full fees paid. Eligibility is according to means and is based on an honour system. Taster Evening A free introductory evening will be offered shortly before the start of the next course where you can meet the training team and experience some of the basics of the co-counselling method. there will also be a chance for personal discussion with the trainer to help to decide if the course is right for you. Further Information/Booking Phone, write or email me. Some queries I may be able to answer immediately - others may be better answered by the taster evening experience.
